Outdoor Bowls News

28 August 2010

Following their successful campaign in the West Suffolk Area E.B.A. Triples League, where they finished very creditable runners-up, Risbygate took their place in the quarter-final round of the county play-offs. West Row provided strong opposition as expected, and Risbygate were eliminated from the competition by nine shots overall (68-59).

They also suffered a similar fate in the semi-final round of the Agnew Cup where they proved to be no match for Tuddenham St Mary Red, who emerged easy winners by 47 shots to 24 on shots aggregate.

Risbygate’s only victory of the week came in the Monday Afternoon League against Barnham whom they beat comfortably by 38 shots to 24, picking up three league points to remain in fourth position.

Senior Cup

Members of Risbygate played Rookery Bowls Club on 4th June in the Senior Cup.  Having successfully won through the first two rounds they sadly went out to Rookery.

Congratulations, however, for having got to round three, and congratulations also to their opponents at Rookery.

Top Team

Conversely, Risbygate Ladies were triumphant in their match against Hadleigh in the 2nd round of the SCWBA Top Team competition. They won on four out of five rinks, thereby going through to round 3.

Congratulations and good luck to them all in the next round.
